Kroger Shopping Trip 3/29/2015

After Harris Teeter we stopped into Kroger to pick up a few more items that I wanted to submit rebates on.  I also wanted to test out the Gerber deal that I have seen a few other people posting about.  There are some mystery Catalinas printing on certain Gerber graduates products but I did not see anyone posting about the deal working in my area.

After purchasing six of the Gerber Breakfast Buddies I did receive the catalinas!  I got back a total of $6 in catalinas; (1) $3.00 and (3) $1.00 catalinas.  I am not sure the minimum to trigger the $3.00 to print.  It must be between 4 and 6 because someone else said they purchased 3 and only received (1) $2.00 and (1) $1.00.  The $1.00 catalinas are printing for every two Breakfast Buddies purchased so it is best to buy in even amounts if possible.  The coupon available for these is $1.00/3 on coupons.com so buy 6 at a time if you can find that many is likely best.  With coupons this is a money maker but even without coupons this is an amazing deal because the meals would cost only $0.09 each!  I used the catalinas from Gerber to help pay for my second transaction so sadly I do not have them included in my picture but hopefully I will be able to find more in another store tomorrow!

We had to do a third transaction for milk because someone forgot to tell me we were almost out. So three transactions in total for just over $20.

Harris Teeter Shopping Trip 3/29/2015

We made a trip to Harris Teeter today.  I had to get rain checks for the Revlon beauty tools and the Reynolds baking cups but was able to get the other items we were looking for.  Did two transactions so that we could submit the Ibotta rebates for Crisco shortening.  I was a bit surprised that all of my coupons fully doubled, typically Harris Teeter will not allow coupons to double fully if it exceeds the price of the item.

Transaction #1

Rite Aid Shopping Trip 3/28/2015

Sad day today.  Today was the last day to earn +UPs.  I remember when Rite Aid brought out the +UP program and am still in a bit of disbelief that it is now gone.  I have been shopping at Rite Aid for many years; I began shopping there during high school when there was just the single check rebate program.  I have rolled with all the changes that Rite Aid has thrown at its customers and have still greatly preferred it over the other drug stores but the new Plenti program has me concerned.  Rite Aid has finally been giving out some information on Plenti but there is still so much unanswered that will be crucial for knowing how good this new program will be.  The main question I have is can we spend and earn points in the same transaction?  If so I think that adjusting to this new program might be okay.  I still do not like the idea of having my points tied to each card, I often mix my +UPs from my cards to spend them how I want.  I will be doing a few more transactions over the next few weeks to use up the remainder of my +UPs and then likely waiting for Plenti to be released in early May.

I finished up the monthly deal for Powerade on my main card and the Huggies diaper deal on my other gold card.  I realized last night when I went to finish watching my video values (which changed over on Friday night?  I am not sure why the videos changed over then but I was no able to watch all of March's videos.) that I had some new Load2Card coupons to clip.  One of them was for $3.00/2 Dove Shampoo and Conditioner.  So I wanted to pick up 2 Dove items on each card to use up those coupons.  The first store we stopped into was completely out of Dove so we had to go to another store to get them.  Thankfully they had 8 Dove products left on an end cap; their typical spot on the shelf was cleared at this store as well!  So five transactions between the two stores.

Target Shopping Trip 3/28/2015

We made a quick stop into Target to do a few gift card deals.  I wanted to get out last week to do these deals when Target had the promotion for the bonus $5 gift card for spending $20 on health and beauty items but was unable to make it since Lily and I were sick.  Still good deals though even without the bonus gift card available.  Again this store would not let me get the full value of my BOGO coupons for the Pledge floor cleaners so I will have to try the other nearby Target tomorrow.  I did two transactions since I was using six toothpaste coupons and also because I wanted the Pledge split up to submit rebates for them but took them out of my transactions when the cashier refused to give me the full value.  I went into the store with $15.92 in gift cards and ended up with $14.60 in gift cards.

CVS Shopping Trip 3/28/2015

I have not shopped at CVS in quite a while.  I was previously shopping at both Rite Aid and CVS but then decided that it was too much to keep up with both stores especially since their sales were so similar.  I enjoy shopping at Rite Aid more than CVS but with the uncertainty coming with Plenti I decided I would do a bit of shopping at CVS for the next month.  Unfortunately there seem to be a large amount of couponers in the area that I live that shop at CVS regularly so they rarely have stock of items, especially on a Saturday.  I was able to find the travel size Eucerin lotions though to do the moneymaker deal this week and I got a rain check for the L'oreal mascaras.

BJ's Shopping Trip 3/28/2015

A quick stop into BJ's today to get some more bananas for Lily; they are her favorite and I am sure she would eat them all in a day if we let her.  We can typically get items cheaper in other stores but BJ's does have good prices on certain produce and meats.

Rite Aid Shopping Trip 3/21/2015

I know it has been a while since I have posted anything but I have been very sick this week.  The illnesses seem to be continuously passed around my household recently.  Started with Lily getting sick and since at least one person has been sick every day and we have gone from one illness to another.  Needless to say we have not been anywhere at all this week until today.  Thankfully my husband was willing to drive me to the store because my head was still so congested I did not feel confident driving myself.

First we stopped into Rite Aid.  I had $20.00 in +UPs that unfortunately expired on me during the week but one of my local stores is very friendly and one manager will typically allow me to use them within a few days of expiration.  Unfortunately she was not there but the manager that was said he was willing to let me use them.  It pays to make friends with the store associates!  Since it was the last day of the sale though they did not have most of what I was looking to purchase so I had to get a few rain checks on items.  We ended up getting a large market umbrella to help use up my expired and expiring +UPs but I was fine with it since I need to spend them down.  It is something I am sure we will get good use out of when my husband is grilling on the back deck.

I did three transactions; I forgot to get a gallon of milk with my first transaction and the card I used for the second did not have a gold discount.

Changes to Rite Aid +UPs Continued

If you missed my first post about the changes to Rite Aid you can find that post here.

The manager I wanted to talk to on Sunday was working tonight so I was able to find out about the April 5th to April 11th ad.  She told me that there again were no +UP reward deals but that there was a P&G deal to get a $10 gas card when you spend $50.  She could not see the limit on the screen because the print was too small but I assume it is a limit of 1 because they have done gas card deals before.  So it might be a decent way to cash out a bit of +UPs because last time they were just prepaid cards that were able to used anywhere, not just at gas stations.

She also told me that all associates are being required to complete video training on "Plenti" by March 22nd.  The training is not available yet but she said she will tell me more once she is able to complete it.  She logged back into her Rite Aid account and showed me the document that stated the information about the training for "Plenti" and it said that it will be a point system and form of payment.

The document also had a change in there about the Wellness +Plus cards.  They will no longer be required in order to receive sale prices at Rite Aid.  It did not state that the cards are being taken away or becoming obsolete so she does not believe that Rite Aid is getting rid of the gold and silver discount levels.

Brian's Rite Aid Shopping Trip 3/9/2015

My intentions to go talk to the store manager about the Rite Aid were derailed when I woke up Sunday morning.  Lily is still working on getting over her stomach bug and unfortunately she shared it with me.  So I spent Sunday being very sick, recovering a bit today and Lily is still sick so I will not be going out today either.  We were out of milk and Lily needed another bottle of Pedialyte so I thought it was a good opportunity to spend some of my +UPs.  Since I was not feeling well enough Brian went to the store for me so the subtotal is a bit higher than usual.

Changes to Rite Aid +UPs

Finally made it out to Rite Aid tonight after getting back home to North Carolina.  I have been seeing people posting about +UPs going away at Rite Aid but I did not want to write anything about it until I was able to talk to the managers I know.  Tonight I was able to talk to them, neither of them knew anything about +UPs going away.

The first one I talked to though was very interested in learning more so she went into the computer to look up the ad for the week of March 29th to April 4th.  She confirmed for me that there are no +UPs in the ad.  We went through all the pages and there was nothing, no indication of a new program or anything.  So she sent a text to her store manager to see if he knew anything about upcoming changes but he did not know anything either.  All he knew of was a new payment system so he told her to log into her Rite Aid account and look at that.  She looked into that and told me there was a program coming called "Plenti" but it just looked like a new payment program and nothing else.  She asked me to come back on Sunday when she would be able to view the April 5th to April 11th ad so we could see what was in that ad.

The second manager I talked to had no idea that there were changes coming to Rite Aid either.  She said she was not surprised that changes were coming though but that it was odd there has been nothing official from Rite Aid about any changes.

So we will hopefully find out more on Sunday when I talk to the first manager again.  Until things do change though I plan on continuing to shop at Rite Aid like I have been.
