Kmart Shopping Trip 5/12/2015

Since I had such great luck finding the socks on clearance at the Kmart near me I decided to drive out to another Kmart that is a bit further away to see if they had anything good on clearance.  This store was larger but I did not find anything good on clearance.  I still had $10 in surprise points to spend so I went to the baby section to pick up some clothes for Lily.

If you did see my previous post, when I tried to spend my points last night at Kmart they told me that the points were only valid on grocery items and my phone was dead so I could not check the offer.  So I left without the clothing I had picked out for Lily.  When I charged my phone I double checked the offer and the first item it excludes is food.  The manager clearly was not reading the screen correctly and just wanted me out of the store because they were closing.

After checking out I realized that my remaining points was only 6 which is wrong, I should have had 826 points left because I got exactly $10.00 in clothing.  The register used all of the points available though so I went back into the store to get it fixed and the manager told me to take it up with customer service on the phone if I wanted my points.  If it were not for the free money I likely would not even be going into Kmart because their customer service is severely lacking.

BJ's Shopping Trip 5/12/2015

We have been out of bananas for a few days and Lily has been protesting the lack of "nanas" in the house.  I had a few manufacturers coupons I found on wine boxes for $2.00 off a $3.00 or more bakery item purchase and I thought that using them in BJ's to pick up some muffins cheap would be a nice treat.  The coupon did not scan so the cashier asked a manager but they said it was valid and to input it.

I realized after I made my purchase that SavingStar has a 20% back on bananas offer so I might have to stop into BJ's again before the offer disappears.

Harris Teeter Shopping Trip 5/11/2015

I made a quick stop into Harris Teeter to look for Softsoap Hand Soap because I still had some coupons to use.  They had a few so I picked up three of them and went to check out.  Some of the transactions I have done with the Colgate-Palmolive items the instant $3.00 savings did not come off so I was not sure if they had fixed the issue or not.  The $3.00 came off from these just fine though!  The cashier knows I shop with coupons so when he saw the total drop to $3.20 he said "oh you're getting a good deal!"

Kmart Shopping Trip 5/11/2015

I stopped into Kmart tonight to use up my surprise points.  This week I had two $10.00 of surprise points to use.  One was valid on clearance and the other was not.  I was planning on just picking up some more clothes for Lily.  I wanted to spend as close to $10.00 as possible so I did not have to pay much out of pocket and I saw a few things I like that were $7.99 so I decided to see if I could possibly pair that with a pack of socks to get just over the $10.00 mark.

There were a bunch of socks in the girl's area with yellow clearance stickers on them and upon closer inspection they were severely marked down!  The socks were about 90% off from retail prices so I started filling up my cart.  I ran down to the price checker to verify that those prices were correct and the scanner said "see sticker for price".  I went back to the socks and loaded some more in my cart then checked the boy's socks and found some of those on clearance as well.  I did not even keep track of how much I was spending I just loaded my cart with all the clearance socks I wanted and happily walked to pick out an outfit for Lily to spend my non-clearance $10.00 surprise points.

I did the transaction with the socks first to ensure that the correct surprise points were used.  They worked correctly and I had enough points left in my account that it covered the remaining balance so I paid nothing out of pocket for almost $200 worth of socks.

Then the cashier rang up the top and shorts I had picked out for Lily which should have totaled $10.98 but the top was actually on sale.  The store did not have any signs up to indicate the sale so I asked her to void it and said I would go pick up another item to get up to the $10.  The manager needed to come over to void the transaction and told me I could not get anything else, they were closed.  I said I knew what item I wanted to grab and it would be quick, I would be back at the register before the last person was done checking out.  She finally rolled her eyes and said okay, come to the service desk to check out.

After getting another shirt and going back to the customer service desk I was told to get back in line at the register.  After waiting in line for 10 minutes I was finally next up and an associate told me to get to the service desk.  She said there was not reason for me to be in line waiting at the register because I was hindering the person in line behind me from leaving?!  I have no clue what she was talking about but I told her they sent me to the register from the service desk.  She was insistant so I went back to the service desk and after ringing up my items was told that my surprise points would not pay for the clothes.  The maanger said my points were for grocery only which I thought was wrong.  I did not remember it saying valid only on grocery but my phone was dead so I was not able to check the wording.  Needless to say, I left without the clothes for Lily.

After getting home I doubled checked my phone and the surprise points said nothing about not being valid on clothing.  Actually the first item that the offer excludes is food so the manager read the screen wrong.  I honestly think she was annoyed with me, she was not happy that I wanted to pick up another shirt to use my points but if they had their items properly marked I would have come up to the register initially with the correct amount of items.

Bath & Body Works Shopping Trip 5/11/2015

A few weeks ago I received a few coupons in the mail from Bath & Body Works.  One of the coupons was for a free full size item, one for a travel size and two coupons for 20% off entire purchase.

The free full size item coupon expired on May 10th; we had planned on stopping in on Mother's Day to pick up my freebie as a gift for me but did not make it due to the weather.  I wanted to try using my coupon anyways and I was nearby so I asked the associate if they would accept my coupon even though it had expired yesterday.  He told me that they would accept it and that they have a grace period of a few days for their coupons!

Lily and I wandered around and smelled all of the body washes.  I typically get vanilla but decided I would try something else for a change, something a bit more summery.  Most of their items seem too strongly scented to me but I found a coconut scented body wash that I liked.

When I went to check out the associate said I am one of their preferred customers because I shop their so much and pointed to the silver bar at the top of my coupon.  I had no clue the silver bar meant anything and I honestly have not stepped into a Bath & Body Works in about a year.  When I do go I am typically picking up gifts for other people.

The associate put a coupon in my bag for $10 off any purchase of $40 or more valid from June 8-July 5, 2015 for their semi-annual sale.

Rite Aid Shopping Trip 5/9/2015

I got to use up the Plenti points that I earned yesterday to see how the rolling of points works and I was very happy with it so far.  The points will pay for not only any remaining subtotal but they will also cover tax!  I had over $4.00 of tax and I only had to pay $2.46 out of pocket after using all of my points from yesterday.  So happy this new system seems to be even better than the +UPs and hopefully I will not have to pay anything out of pocket, I will just use points to pay for everything.

It does look like you can do something with your Plenti account called "pooling" though.  I have seen a few people mention it briefly but it looks like you can link up to three cards to share using points.  That does seem like something that could be beneficial but it worries me that it would link the cards and share point earning offers.  For example if an offer was limit 2 it may link the cards so that you can only get 2 offers between all the cards instead of 2 offers per each card.  If it does not link the cards and share offer limits I would probably pool some of my cards together though.

I did have a bit of an issue with two of my cards, being linked so I did not get to buy all that I had planned on but I got the issue fixed once I got home so I should be set for next week.  On accident the same phone number was used for both cards and I was afraid that would not allow me to earn the points on both cards.  I ended up using two cards and doing two transactions today.
